St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Cork Painting | When Cork Glows

When Cork Glows is an original Cork city painting capturing a colourful evening view along Sullivan’s Quay, with St Fin Barre’s Cathedral rising above the city and the pedestrian bridge crossing the River Lee.
Rich pinks, purples, turquoise and warm golden tones move through the sky and buildings before spilling into the water below. I wanted the reflections to feel loose and full of movement, contrasting with the detail of the familiar Cork architecture.
This painting has been several weeks in the making. I had to put it aside while I worked on commissions before returning to it, and I’m delighted with how it has finally come together.
